Curious in the opinions regarding best light weight 65mm spotting scope.

Looking for something lighter than the Zeiss 85mm I carry.

Check out the specs on the M Series from Swarovski. Same glass as current S Series, but lightweight magnesium body. Due to the lighter weight, I prefer it over the new, and more-expensive, X Series.

You can find it used in both HD and standard glass and with straight and angled eyepiece.

Throw the 25-50 Wide Angle eyepiece on it and you're rocking a sweet setup.

Wish you would've got more input on glass but I'll take a shot at tripods, too.

I use the Promaster T525P that I bought from S&S Archery with a Manfrotto 496RC2 head. That is with a 80mm scope and it is rock solid and very lightweight for a full-feature tripod.

My wife uses big binoculars instead of a spotting scope and she uses a Sirui T-025X tripod that is awesome. It is a little small for an 80mm scope, but might be absolutely perfect for a 65mm scope. If I had a 65mm scope, I'd get the Sirui and risk some head-sag for the joys of a 1.7 lbs tripod/head combination.

Thanks Grizzly, somehow I got it in my head that Swaro is a little darker than Leica & Zeiss. Just something I remember when out with a buddy that had a swaro spotter and I was using my Zeiss 85mm

I could be very wrong to transfer that experience to all swaro. I use swaro 15x binocs and love them, just dont love how much they weigh. Bog Pod tripod works for the 15x binocs, but, would never do very well with a spotter at 45x.

Does you experience with swaro make you feel they are equal to Leica or Zeiss spotters?
Thanks for responding, I definetly will look into that tripod. Trying ot get some weight off my back, and I should be getting it off my gut.
