been looking at getting a pair, lets hear what you have and what's been the better of the two, I have a pair of 10x42 EL's and love them so I am really leaning to the swarovskis, just havn't held them yet to know. thanks

I really like the new leica rangefinder binos. They are awesome! They are optically better than the swaros I believe. The swaros don't have the swarovison in them only swarobright. They are both awesome binos though!

I went through this very thing this spring.

My opinion, The EL Range side by side with the Leica from a fit and finish and ergonomics standpoint is a no brainer, the Swarovski is compact and quality looking , the Leica looks cheap and clunky.

Optics, I can tell no difference, if there is it has to be minor. of those I talked to it was about a 50/50 split .

As far as the rangefinder goes the Leica is too complicated for me it would just make me mad. the EL's are simple, I still own a flip phone, and even I can run them just fine. if you'd really use the features of the Leica, then that would be a plus. all I want is the range.

In the field, I bought the Swaro and by brother in law bought the Leicas. we sat and ranged things for an hour from 100-1500 yards. both were very accurate and both had no issues making the target. I'd call it a draw.

We're both happy with our choice, but I'm pretty sure I chose better. they're both great I don't think you can go wrong. hope that helps you.

I've had the Swaro 10x42 rangefinders for about a year I can't find anything I don't like about them. The range button on the left is a problem for some but with huge hands I just range with my right hand over the top. I compared them side by side I couldn't find any difference in glass but as Dude stated the ergonomics of the Swaro is great. I ranged deer to 1,500 yards this season without a problem but a little out of my shooting range.

Last month I took a ride over to the coast to a small town that is an Authorized Dealer of the major brands of scopes.

Here is one they let me take across the street and look over across the bay to some homes on the other side of harbor.
I ranged without even knowing which button to push, only two, so tried both and then it worked. Small red square showed in the lens, then the yardage poped up saying 1,014 yards and this was a hazy day too and the glare off the Pacific Ocean too.

Very nice set and nice price too. They would make only ONE item hanging around your neck easier too.

Price: $2,899.00

I'll catch some grief for this , but here is my 2 cents : I ran swaros for years every thing binocs ,spotters, riflescope and rangefinder ! After hard use afield I have been left high and dry several times by swarovski , not only me but friends and my brothers ! Swaros are made to keep in the truck , not for back country hunting ! Their warranty procees was tediousness and time consuming ! Their product and repair process became to much to deal with ! So I started to phase them all out , I have never been happier switching to leica ! Better quality, tougher, no fail product , and only one dealing with the warranty dept , ( I yanked my 10x42 s out of my s4 holder in the excitement of finding a big buck and pulled the eye cup off and failed to pick it back up when leaving ! ) long story short I called leica and told them I needed a new eye cup , no explaining , no expense , no run around , no product verification! All he wanted was my mailing address and 2 days latter I had a new eye cup ! No hassle ! Long story short in my opinion leica hands down ! The only optics I will run now are leica and nightforce ! Very happy with both ! Swaros are not an option when it comes to picking out a new optic !

If you're bad-mouthing Swaro service, you better pray you never need more than an eye-cup from Leica. Swaro's service is second to none, including Leupold. And I own Leica's..

You must be the 1 in 500 customer. I've been ruthlessly abusing mine for several years without an issue. To be fair, my whole crew has been ruthlessly abusing theres for the last 10, we've had one failure on a 15+ year old set, that was repaired in less than 4 weeks.

In 20 years of Swarovski binoc and scopes I've yet to need a repair.

On my Leica ultravids the objective lens covers got old and wouldn't stay on, one call to leice and a free pair were sent.

Putting the objective covers on my new EL Ranges I broke one. one call to Swaro and a free new pair was sent.

It will be interesting to see what Swaro replaces the EL Range with. maybe add the Swarovision? I doubt I'll care I couldn't be happier with them as they are. they're better than my eyes can use and they range farther than I can shoot.

The Leica HD-B and 1600-B will not compensate for angle inclination at distances under 100 yards, the swarovski's will. That alone is a leica deal breaker for any bow hunter. Only the leica R series will do this.

I have had two repair returns with leica. One was a pair of second-generation 10x42 geovids. They leaked their internal gasses and fogged/froze. Leica repaired them at no charge.

The second repair was a 10-15x50 duovid bino that had a defective rubber protective body coating. They refused to honer the return as a defect and wanted to charge $600...

Leica and swaro are VERY comparable in terms of both optical and build quality however leica has some catching up to do with their customer service department from my experience.

I have not had any problems with my lieca so cant say any thing about service, but I wonder how come so much swaro.is for sale in classified, seems to be the most used for sale optic out there.

I just read this thread and it reminded me that I broke a bino harness clip for my Swarovskis last week.
I googled Swarovski service, made a call and the clip will be in the mail to my PO box at no charge to me.
This seems like pretty good service albeit a small item.

Sorry that I know nothing about the RF type binos. My R finder is a Leica and is separate from my Swarovski binos.

Most of it is older models and there is probably 10 times as many pieces of swaro glass in the public as there is either high end zeiss or leica..

Swaro customer svs is good, but they don't replace my eye cups for free. I sent them about $20 every other year.

I've owned both and can tell you that for my eyes and everyone else that handled them the Leica HD-b are hands down sharper and brighter.they are big and bulky though.i was not not impressed at all with the glass in swaro El range.i didn't think it was nearly as good as their other glasses.
