I have a burris rifle scope with ballistiplex reticle it is 6.5-20power. This is described to be idiot proof, but I'm going to assume that if I shoot at a deer at 350 yards on 10 power, or the same deer on 15 power, using the ballistiplex system I would hit in two different spots. How big of a difference is it to change powers on the scope?

A major difference.

The aiming spots beneath the center crosshair are only accurate for your load when your scope is set at the calibration magnification you are told to set it to.

Your scope is a 2nd focal plane scope so when you turn up the magnification the images magnify but size of the reticle stays the same in relation to the target.

Simply, the distance between the center crosshair and the ones beneath it changes depending on magnification. At lower powers the distance is greater, at higher powers it is less.

So if you are told for example to set your magnification at 15x but you leave it at 10x you will shoot way high. If you set it at 20x you will shoot way low.

Major difference.

You have to set the power where you are told.

Your scope is a 2nd focal plane so as you turn up the magnification the image increases in size but the size of the reticle stays the same.

The distance represented between the center crosshair and the ones below it changes with magnification.

So say you are told to set it a 15x but you set it at 10x, you will shoot way high. If you set it at 20x you would shoot way low.
