Tripod recommendation - 80MM Spotter

So i just pulled the trigger and ordered a Meopta Meostar HD 20-60X80mm spotting scope. Now I need a quality tripod within my budget to maximize it.

Really not even sure where to begin. My budget is around $2-250.00. I need something that is full size, light enough to pack around the mountains. I have a $90 vanguard espod, but its so herky jerky when trying to pan around.

Suggestions? What to get something good enough to really maximize this new spotter.
 
Congrats on the new scope!

I probably won't be of much help here, but I'd highly recommend outdoorsmans tripods. They are more than what you're budgeting, however. You'll find that most guys who have tried them will highly recommend them. You'd need the legs which run 4-500 and then a head of your choice.

Gitzo also makes tremendous tripods but they are spendy as well. They are carbon fiber vs the aluminum of the outdoorsmans stuff.

In your price range you may want to look at manfrotto stuff. This one gets pretty good reviews:
