I have been looking at the Leupold v6, 3x18 x44 30mm with CDS at about $1200, a little pricey for me.
I read that Vortex has a new 3x15 x42, 1 inch tube, for about $900

I have heard lots of comments about Vortex Binos and Spotting scopes, but little about the quality of their rifle scopes. Wondering what experience people have had with Vortex rifle scopes

I have heard both good and bad. A few tracking problems, blurry spots on the edges. But in most cases . They sent them back until they got what they wanted.A great warranty. But you know I can #$$$ in a box ....its just a warranty. I just ordered a HSLR 6 x 24 x 50. to try on a AR 10. I have used mostly Leupold's and one Nightforce. I am hoping for a good experience. I have heard a few friends that love Vortex. I use a couple of their spotters. Not really liking there bino's? But you get what you pay for.

I used a Viper PST for a couple seasons, overall a really nice scope. Solid build quality and nice repeatable clicks. Low light performance was what ultimately got me to sell it, not quite good enough.

Good scope for the money though.

I have had no problems with any of mine. The Razor gen 2 is considered by most of the tactical crowd to be as good as any thing out there. I did get to look at the new Razor light weight hunter you are talking about, appeared to be very nice.....of course it was dark out when I saw it at Vortex so will need more looking. The new 100% american made AMG should be great scope, basically a smaller lighter version of the Gen 2

I am currently running their Razor 85mm spotter , 2 viper 6.5-20 30mm tube scopes on my rifles, a HS viper 2.5-10x44 on my muzzleloader and I cannot express how much light they gather and clarity! simply hands down amazing

I just wanted to chime in. The warranty is awesome as well. In my opinion if you're going to spend that kind of money on a scope it is nice to know that if it breaks while hunting you can always get it fixed or replaced at no cost to you.

Just buy the Leupold VX-6. Then use the voucher to get your free custom turret. Everyone brags about the Vortex warranty; I just don't get it as the Leupold warranty is just as good and most likely you'll never have to use it because you won't have any problems with the Leupold. If your Vortex breaks when you are one the mountain most likely during a 2 week season, you're screwed. I have 2 of the VX-6's that you're looking at and couldn't be happier. There's a reason the Vortex products are cheaper than the others.

the big difference between Vortex warranty and leupolds warranty is that you don't have to use leupolds warranty as often.....leupold warranty is second to none.

Well I think the warranty has been covered...
Very good luck with both brands. Biggest difference is the MOA travel 75moa with the Leupy 30mm tube and 55moa with the Vortex. Same length, 1/4 clicks, Vortex a bit lighter (3oz). Really like the new reticles in the LH and has Razor glass. Really can't go wrong with either. Imho..if you're gonna dial and have a specific load for said rifle the Leupold probably makes more sense. If you're gonna hold over and have different loads, Vortex ballistic program is very user friendly and will same a little $$. Good luck. If you go with the Vortex would love a report from the field..

Why does the Leupold make more sense just for a specific load? The dials can be had marked in MOA. All mine are. The Leupold makes more sense because it is a superior optic. mtmuley

VX 6 with the moa turret is where id go were i to buy the Leupold. However they still havent fixed their tracking issues. Go with the Vortex. But for the same money I'd pick up a Nightforce SHV 3-14-50 F1
