Rate the "glass"

Lots of companies out there are making good glass. I have always bought Leupold and have always been very happy with the product and the customer service. In the next few years I will be looking to upgrade and maybe dive into the pricier glass. Word is that Swarovski is the best from what I've been reading. Not sure if I want to spend THAT type of money but will see. How does Leica ( a bit cheaper than Swaro I think) compare? What about Vortex or Leupold? If you could rate your top 4 "glass" producers, what would they be? Thanks!

Wis,

I have Swarovski, Leica, Vortex, Brunton and Leupold optics.

Leupold, Brunton*, and Vortex have bullet proof warranties and I can not say enough about how cool they are to work with. *(Brunton is no longer around-however the guys from Brunton are now running Maven optics).

I have had good and bad experiences with Swarovski warranty.

Never had warranty experience with Leica.

All of them are great glass.

These are my favorites:
Spotting Scope-Swarovski
Binoculars-Brunton
Range Finding Binoculars: Leica
Rifle scopes: Vortex or Leupold

Quality of glass is an age old debate. My opinion is that they are all good, some fit the eye better than others.

All this being said, I would lean to Swarovksi for the sheer fact of future value. They are the gold standard of value. You can buy them and sell (keeping cash liquid if required) easily. You can buy a Swaro and sell it for close to the same price you paid a couple of years later. Others hold value, just not as well and not as easy to move.

Just my $.02
