Swarovski differences

Looking at getting some Swarovski binos and I'd like to know the differences between some of them, older versus the newer swarovision, like the EL-WB. What models have what glass.

Would be nice if any members had knowledge of when they started putting the Swaro glass in their Binos and if there is a difference in the clarity and light transmission ability between the Ranging binos and the Els without ranging capability.

OldBear,
You should pick up the phone and call Swarovski Optik directly at (800) 426-3089. They are great people to talk to and will gladly explain to you the differences between the various lens coatings and other differences between various models. You will not be disappointed as their customer service is second to none.

I can only comment on the 10x42 El Swarovision model and the 10x42 EL Range model from personal experience with owning both. I bought the swarovision model in late 2012. I absolutely loved these binos. Very clear, great light gathering capability. I then decided to buy the EL Range in early 2014. I kept the swarovision model so that I could compare them at home side by side before I decided to keep the EL Range. To me, there was a noticeable light gathering difference at dusk. I compared the two early evenings for quite some time each night. The Swarovision model gathered more noticeable light. I ended up deciding that it wouldn't bother me enough and decided to keep the EL range and sold the swarovision. To this day, I have regretted that decision but I haven't pulled the trigger on a new set of Swarovisions. I was pretty dang close though, all I had to do was click the submit order button. The ranging capability of the EL Range kept drawing me back.

Thanks for the response dack77. Just the one I needed. I was thinking about the Swaro range, but I just didn't like the way they felt in my hands. Your review helped me decide and I now have a new pair of Swarovisions and have a Leica 1600B coming. Having 2 in 1 might be good, but 99% of the time I want the best glass. Thanks for the info.

Looks like you have good feedback. If you want more maybe call Outdoorsmans just to see what they say.

I have the EL's and absolutely love them. I think it's hard to tell the quality in a store or similar environment, but once in the woods you'll have these "ah-ha" moments, where you can't believe what you can see. My first moment was hunting blacktails. I noticed something swimming in a river down below me. I put the bino's on it and realized it was a family of otters at first light. Watched them climb out of the water onto shore and then I was like...holy cow, I can see their whiskers...good enough to count them! It was pretty cool. Felt like I was watching the national geographic channel in HD. I was sold on why I spent the $$...and many more after that.

I passed on the range finder version simply because I expect to have these the rest of my life and everything with electronics breaks down at some point.
