tripod head question

last year I bought a vanguard alta 264AO for a antelope hunt in Wyoming knowing most of the time my 65mm swaro would be attached to my window. This year I have an elk hunt and 3rd season deer tag in Colorado and I want to upgrade the head or both the tripod and head. . The head of I have on there now doesn't lock left to right and up and down seperately. It's all controlled by the one handle which isn't ideal for serious glassing. I'm considering buying the vanguard ph 113v head, monfrotto 700cr2 or the outdoorsman pan head. I have a 65mm stx swaro and 10x42 slc's that I'll be using on it. I know very little about tripods and heads but I'm trying to do as much research as I can to just get the best for me needs now so I don't have to change again. Budget really isn't the ultimate deciding factor but I'm not interested in just spending more if the difference isn't significant. Can I put the outdoorsman head on my existing VG tripod? Most of my hunts are day hunts from our wall tent but I know next year or the following I'll be doing a late rifle hunt in AZ and plan on some backpack style hunts in the next few years

Thanks for your thoughts and input,

Bite the bullet and get the Outdoorsman pan head. It is considerably nicer than the 700rc2, or any other head for that matter. If your VG tripod is 1/4'"-20 then it will fit. If not you will need whatever bushing.

Protester xc 525 benro s2 pan head. Good price light weight carbon and very sturdy great for backpack hunting. I run my 15 slc and my 80 ats works great
