This past Deer hunt my two hunting buddies broke out their new Vortex Optics Binoculars, Spotting scope, and Rife scope. Damn my $50 Binoculars are not going to cut it any more it's more than obvious that I need a upgrade. lol My question is Diamond back or Crossfire ? 10x42 or 12x50 ? These two are in my price range. My Buddies have the Diamond back 10x42 I like them a lot but I would like any input on the Crossfire 10x42 or the 12x50 if anybody out there owns a pair. Any information on both good or bad would be appreciated. Thanks,

Is their that much differences between 10 verses 12 ? I know stronger the power the more your field of sight would move in the wind and stuff.

I have 15's around my neck every time i leave the truck. Go with the 12's you will never go back to dinky 10's!

Best bino for your buck!! 12*50 diamond back. Live behind glass for lots of months through out the year . Have everything from crossfire to Kaibab hd 20*56. Sold all of my 10*42 the 12*50 are so much better . I'll never go back for my all around bino . 12*50 is the best.

Save a bit longer and get the Viper 10x50's
For best light gathering stick to the "1 to 5 ratio" rule ( 7x35, 8x40, 10x50,etc). There is nothing wrong with the Crossfire or Diamondback lines, but dollar for dollar I believe you get the most bang for your buck with the Viper line when it comes to their binoculars.
Also, in real hunting conditions most folks can't hold anything above a 10 power binocular steady.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-17 AT 04:58PM (MST)[p]I've got the 15x50s and I love them. I was hesitant at first to get them with as big as they are and have been told I'd hate them unless I had a tripod to use them with. Can't imagine hunting without them now.

Eeeesh...15*50 for an all around bino? That's an acquired taste haha ... Awesome binos though. Like I said I own all the way up to 20*56 but after 15 power definitely a tripod bino.. I did sell all my 10*42 & 10*50 after I bought the 12*50. They're amazing.

Do you have the Diamondbacks or Crossfires ? I went to Sportsman Warehouse last weekend and checked both of them out. I was inside looking at a sign they had hanging up across the showroom and it was in the dark and I couldn't tell a whole lot of differences between the two except the $80.00 price tag differences. I know too really compare the two I need to be outside in the hills.

I have a set of each! The diamond back is worth the small price difference. The $300 price jump from diamond back to viper is definitely not worth it. The jump from diamond back tto razor is worth it. You can definitely tell the difference in quality from Diamondback to razor but not from Diamondback to Viper

If you can afford them go with the vipers HD they kick the diamondbacks butt especially in the the early morning and right before dark.

I can carry the 12x50s in my badlands harness all day and I also have the 10x42 diamondbacks and the 12x50s blow them out of the water. I use them for everything from scouting to hunting to 3d shooting. The only thing I don't use them for is tree stand hunting whitetails. Well worth it. I like them so much, I'm considering going to the 15x56s next year. You'll love the 12x50s for the price in my opinion

If anyone is interested, I have a pair of the 10 x50?s viper hd binos that I bought that I don't need. They are still in the plastic wrap around the box. Haven?t opened them.
Just throwing it out there.
