Which do you guys prefer straight spotting scope ,or angled spotting scope whats your advice? Whats the pro and cons on straight or angled spotting scope thanks in advanced

Here is my take,, if you are going to be looking up hill most of the time get the angled,, ya i know you can roll the angled to look straight or down hill, for me the straight does it all , i have a Kowa 884 its big and heavy but to me the best one out there, i don't pack it anywhere ,its just to big , but on a window mount the straight is fast and simple,, on a good tripod down into the deep canyons or high on the ridges it just flat works , just my 2 cents

Mine is angled and that is all I've ever known. I bought angled at the time because the majority of the people I respected on MM.com preferred the angled.

I purchased an angle, before I ever used a spotter. I do like it yet it has some drawbacks. The first is that it doesn't fit in my backpack as well. The other reason why I want to change to straight is picture acquisition. When an animal is glassed up using binoculars then the change over to the spotter is seamless with the straight. With an angled the process of finding the animal all over again, because the angle is different on the angled spotter. If you talk to people spending a lot of time gassing they will always direct you to the straight. My next one will be straight for sure. Buy it once buy it straight and you won't regret it.

[p][a href="http://www.huntingscopespro.com/"]I prefer to straight over angled because of my eyes. So I really just thing that it is a personal preference thing. I do not think that one way is better than the other. When you do purchase one check out both. [/a][/p]

Pros and cons to both. I find I like the angles better because I don't have to set my tripod up very high to use it comfortably and that also helps in the wind. It doesn't fit in my pack as nice as a straight would, but I adapt. It takes some getting used to finding things after you spot them with Binoculars.

Look at how you use it and pick what's best for you. Now that I'm use to the angle I would buy another if I did it again.

Never really messed with an angled but the straight you can almost do it all and you can pick up your target faster I think.

I grew up on a straight scope. Then I decided to buy an angled scope. I put a lot of thought into it, and I will never go back to a straight scope. It doesn't take me any longer to find objects with it. The best part for me is setting it up on my tripod and having 3 different people all be able to bend down and see through the scope without having to adjust the tripod for varying height people.
