Tripod ideas

I'm looking for a tripod to use with a 80mm spotting scope and 15x binoculars. Will be used sitting on hill sides and standing.

It will be important to:
- accommodate my height of 6?4?
- collapses short enough to use in sitting position
- adjustable leg angles
- very sturdy/solid lock up
- relatively light

Also looking for a super solid pan head with quick detach features so could use some ideas with them as well.

You won't find that.

You can't get light and stable at 6'4". Once you extend the center-post you will immediately start to lose some rigidity, especially in anything that is considered light.

At 6'4", like my son, and two primary hunting partners, you will learn to either carry a full sized, 6lb+ tripod, or get on the ground.

I have used this for 10yrs, with Swaro 15's and 65MM spotter and really like it, and price is good. Check out the reviews everywhere, solid 4.5-5.0 star rating:

Very good advice right there. I too have done a ton of homework and ended up getting one of the Field Research tripods. I ended up getting the microlite though and it's a lot of tripod for the money. I'm thinking about getting this one as well. The microlite will probably be too short for you standing and it's really best suited for sitting anyways.

I have never glassed with a spotter standing up. I see no need to need that much height/extension if you can do it on the ground... thus keeping your profile lower. But what do i know? Good luck finding what suits your needs.
