Maven's????

Hi all,

I need to invest in a set of optics. I have good eyesight already and hunt out west. Saw Maven's sell direct so maybe a hair less expensive than the big 2. Has anyone messed around with these at all?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-30-18 AT 06:13AM (MST)[p]I have been running Maven B.2's since they came out. Before that I had a run with Swaro and Leica but sold them when I went back to college. From there I bought some Razor hds then got Maven when they came out. With that being said.... I feel Mavens are great for the money. Optically better than Vortex Razor line in my eyes but defiantly not as good as the Swaro EL and Leica Ultravid HD lines but is pretty close. I would say they are up to par with the SLC line and better than the Trinovid line. The only other binos in that price range that I would be looking at in that Maven price range would be Kahles Helias (Hard to find in US, Would probably have to order from Ebay.) or even a little cheaper bino. Tract Toric Schott Hd which is the same glass Zeiss has used in the past. Those 2 are the only 2 binos that I would even think of looking at other then my Mavens in that price range (or a little cheaper).

Im located in Salt Lake if you are around here and want to look through them. If not Maven has a Demo program where you could try them out for a little bit and see if they are what you are looking for.

Thanks fo the feedback. That is really helpful. I just got back from a scouting trip in NM with a much more experienced hunter than I am.. He said that I need to invest in some glass I think I'll check maven out further - especially if they have a try and buy program.

What magnification are you running in the b.2's if you don't mind me asking?

You said investment. Think about this: If you have some Swarovski?s and need to sell them for whatever reason, all you need to do is list them for market value and they will sell fast. If you go with maven and need to sell then your post will sound like. ?You might not know who they are but they are on par with Swarovski..........?

That should answer your question.

Ya, that makes a lot of sense. I'm going to keep saving for some truly higher end glass.

Depends on what you need out of a pair of optics. If you are going to make a living with them, get the best for YOUR eyes and not Jack's down the street.

If you're going to use them occasionally as in a couple weeks per year while hunting and/or scouting, get the best value for YOUR eyes and not Jacks's down the street.

Only you can decide what the value is you get out of a pair of optics. The most benefit will be the first time you use them, regardless of price and brand. If you sell a pair, you sell them for what they are. You can't equalize a pair of optics, just like you can't equalize two professions.

I have the "cheaper" Mavens, the C2s, and I can say they definitely compete with optics double their price. Compared straight up to the razors and there wasn't anything that would make me choose the razors over these. They are really good binos for the price. I haven't been able to look through either of the B series binos but I expect they would compete well with some of the best binos on the market if the return for your money is similar.

The swarovskis might be nice and the resale might be great, but when all your hunting gear combined costs as much as a single pair, I just don't see the worth. You might though and if you have the money to do it, go for it. I spot more game then all my swarovski hunting buddys, so it ain't the binos that really matter here.

Thanks for the feedback. I may try the try-and-buy deal Maven runs. Basically buy a pair, keep'm for 2weeks and if you don't like them you can send them back. The only other thing I really like about them, other than cost, is that they offer a lifetime warranty. That, to me, is a huge value.

I have the Maven B2 9X45's and love them. I did a huge amount of window shopping for binoculars and Maven won out. I didn't let reviews and cost effect my decision. I could have bought Swaro 10X42 SLC.
For me it was
1. Maven B2
2. Swaro SLC
3 Meopta
4. Zies conquest

I meant to update this thread earlier. I ended up doing the try and buy program from Maven and am testing some b.2's now.

I have to say that I really like them. I got the 7 x 42's after talking to one of the guys there he said that is the model that most of them use in the field.

I'm looking forward to comparing them with my mentor's binos. He swears by Leica and I'm sure he'll kick my butt for getting "lower grade glass," but TBH these things are good.

And in a year or two you'll be trying to sell them for next to nothing to buy Leica, Swarovski, or Zeiss. Bank on it.

Eh.... I wouldn't say that. I ran els and ultavid hds then sold them when I went back to college. I now run Mavens and I enjoy the he!! out of them. Is it worth the extra 1500+ to go up to the els or noctivids? Depends...? To my eyes I don't see a 1500$ price difference..... Maybe a 500$ difference.... and with that im talking 1-2 min in the morning and night extra being able to glass. Also with that though I will be going back up to Els as soon as my wife graduates from school. Just all depends on priorities.
