I dropped my near new 15x56 HD binos yesterday and both objective lens suffered substantial damage. I am getting ready to ship them back. Anyone have any info on how this will play out?

My son found a pair of EL in New Mexico that were probably 2 or 3 years old and sent them in they replaced all the rubber coating. They would not replace the glass. There is a little scratch in one of the eye pieces. So if you're glass is bad it might cost you a lot of money. All you can do is send them in and see what happens. I would send them now because the turnaround was about 4 or 5 months

I have a swaro 80mm at there shop as we speak. They have been very good at keeping me posted on what's going on I would stress to much!

I took a hell of a fall two years ago landing on top of my binocs. After landing on the rocks, my ribs were badly bruised and the binocs were badly scratched including a twisted hinge. No damage to the glass. Sent them in and had them back in a couple of months looking like they did when I first bought them 18 years ago. They replaced the hinge and applied new armor coating at a cost of $140. I am extremely happy with the Swarovski service. They do great work at a reasonable price.

I can't say what will happen here, but I have a guess it won't be cheap. I recently sent a pair of 10x42 Kahles binos to Swarovski because the clarity was bad. Swarovski in Rhode Island receives all the Kahles warranty work and they may actually be the same company. They forwarded the binoculars on to Kahles in Austria.

About 3-4 weeks after it was received by Kahles, I contacted Swarovski to see what was going on as I had heard nothing for a long time. The Swarovski rep claimed extensive damage had occurred to the binoculars and wanted $ 400 in repairs. This was for a binocular that had been hardly used and was purchased new from Sportsman Warehouse for less than a $ 1,000. I felt I was being scammed as these binos were hardly used and had always been handled in a binocular system. I told them to send them back. I doubt I will ever buy anymore German glass. I plan to stick with Maven, Leupold, Vortex and any other company that stands behind what they sell.

just sayin...mh

My dad had a pair of 8X that had the strap "hole" (for lack of a better phrase) in the body of the tube break. He sent them in and because it wasnt able to be fixed, the sent him brand new ones. The binos were over 10 yrs old and he bought them used.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-10-19 AT 11:42AM (MST)[p]I have a pair of 10x42's i bought in The early 90's used ,10 years ago I sent them in they basically fell apart in the middle from a fall a friend took while borrowing them.No visible damage on the outside at all they replaced the whole center section for nothing.

UPDATE RE: damaged Swaros

Got them back good as new. Cost was 200$ even. Absolute great customer service and much faster than they originally said. Could not be happier.

RE: UPDATE RE: damaged Swaros

Dropped mine this year and they landed on a rock right on the focus knob.

I sent them in and had a good experience except it took about 2.5 months. So I sent the survey in saying basically that. Few weeks later received an e-mail that said for 50$ you can move to the front of the line. I didn't know that and the guy I originally talked to didn't mention it either even after me telling him I had a hunt in about 6 weeks I hope I get them back in time. I would have paid the 50 to have them for that hunt.

Good to hear all went well for you
