Trail cams w/ wifi?

What a great innovation if it's not to complicated for an ol geezer. I'm full of dumb questions once again , so here goes. Almost every area I hunt doesn't have cell service, would these wifi cams work there? I saw one advertised that said it worked with AT&T but I have Verision. Need clarity and wisdom MM team. Might the tech world be developing a trail cam using Satallite service to bring pictures from the Feild into my home laptop nightly? Hoping someone might be up to speed on these type cameras. Thx Jim

Hey Serv I am an old geezer myself. Where I hunt there is no service except Sat. phones. They most likely with the technology of today build a cam with wifi. That hits existing signals like AT&T or Verizon. The secrets is existing signal or carrier waves. Then they transmit linked data to your home. Deep in canyons and dead zones a trail cam company would need a powerful wifi signal and a contract with some Satillite Company to transmit the data back to homes. That would be expensive and a small over all market for the Sat. Companies. Those Sat. Ready WiFi Cam Units and a monthly fee most likely we would be charged big bucks to consumers. Different animal once you have figure out a way to get a signal out when there is no signal in. Sat. Is the only option if someone thinks they can make enough money to make it happen. Then eventually someone would come out with that type trail cam, data service fee that IMO would be a bunch of money.
Just my 2cents ?

Thank you Sir, thought it was probably to good to be true. Hate to bug ya for more info but for areas that do have cell service is this type of camera feasible ?

Yep they would work as long as the exact placement of trail cam could receive a signal so most likely you would still have some dead spots. Places like deep in canyons etc. I am sure places like ridge lines would be better than down in canyons.?

Sat service would be horribly expensive and slow, and if you're using a decent tailcam, you're going to be uploading megabytes per pic and that's going to cost you a LOT.

If these cams have wifi and support adhoc mode, you could get within a hundred yards of them with a cellphone or laptop and pull the pics off. It could save you a little effort and scent. May be able to go longer if you can scrounge up a directional antenna.

Thx guys. Looks like what I was hoping for is aways off. Best of luck this year chasing Em. Jim
