Hey guys, want to read what you guys think about using bibs for a CO high country hunt I want to do. I've used a heavier bib on a Oct muley hunt in WY a few years back. It worked great for the winds and helped keep me warm, but like I said, HEAVY. Want to save all the weight I can, but do love using bibs. Any opinions and options would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob

Rob, I would CAN the bibs and go with insulated gortex or dry plus pants from Cabelas . Bibs are a pain when needing to go to the bathroom....its personal preference....have fun...

If you're hunting on horseback and don't plan on doing much hiking bibs might work. If you're hauling yourself and all your gear up and down the mountain...toss them bibs in the trash!! I can't imagine how much heat they would trap and dealing with the weight. Staying warm is critical, but so is getting rid of heat and sweat when you're hiking around. My answer is a decent synthetic hiking or hunting pant for the hike up in the morning or when moving around. When I sit and glass or am having some chow, I slip on some insulated overpants that have full side zips so they easily go over my boots.

I also own bibs would never think about packing them in. I have packable pants and a packable PARKA that is long enough to cover my midsection. So much more versatile.

Get a Gortex shell bib. zip up leggs' light then if need be u can add layers under for temps. I use Cabelas guide wear. Kind of pricy but you can't go wrong. I use the same bibs for fall just to break the wind and rain to extream cold Ice Fishing and Snowmobiling. Rutnbuck

Another option would be pants with suspenders. Sitka, Kuiu, and many others offer this option. Fatrooster.
