OK tell me if I'm getting crazy but id like to get some sort of night vision for elk hunting. I'm planning on getting out at 1-2am and try to locate a herd at night then stay with the til daylight for a shot. I don't want this to turn into talk about legalities just wanna know who's doing this and what's best to use? Monocular? Good and bad brands? Magnification? Hopefully I can learn from someone else that's given it a go. Trying to learn other than the hard way for once!

Thanks,

Rob

Really? In your post you have 2 sentences that go against that comment. "OK tell me if I'm getting crazy but id like to get some sort of night vision for elk HUNTING. I'm planning on getting out at 1-2am and try to locate a herd at night then stay with the til daylight for a SHOT.

If it is legal, I say more power to you...I used night vision to shoot a 300 lb wild hog once however as we all know there are no reg's when it comes to hog hunting!

What I meant was I'm not going to use the night vision to poach or shoot at night. Also thought it might be good on preseason scouting trips. I'm just trying to find someone who might have already been down this road and may have some insight as to what night vision is best. What better way to study elk and track movements than when the elk are actually out.
