I just got a new Garmin Oregon 550 & Hunting GPS maps for NM & Colorado.

There is a section of land where I hunt in CO that has a reliable water tank on it that I always thought was private by looking at my BLM & Forest Service maps. There are several fences in the area & after getting these new products and studying them with Garmins Basemap software this property is in fact public ground!

I'm sure I will find many other new areas to hunt that I just wasn't quite sure about where the private land boundaries were.

Great products!

I just wish that the Hunting GPS Maps had the land ownership for Catron county in NM! I really hope that this is in the works for an update soon.

Hunting gps maps combined with a good gps are the best thing since sliced bread, and since most law enforcement use the same program it puts the law and the hunter on the same page.

Hey 1 Fast Gmblr,

Have you had a chance to use that 550 much since you first posted? Is Catron county they only counties or unit areas with problems in NM, I drew a 3rd archery Bull tag for 13 and there are some new areas I've always wanted to check out, but didn't want to break the law in getting in there. I'd like to check out the areas in the next week or two, if I can get up there. I still haven't decided to whether to get the 550 or spring a bit more for the 600 since it's supposedly has some anti glare feature for better visibility in sunlight. Cabela's has the 550 marked down to $189 and the 600 is $399. I'm going to buy one of them and the NM maps but want to look at both units in the store on Wednesday. Would love to hear your thoughts or anyone else's. Thanks for any thoughts you might have.
