My Elk Mountain Gear Experience.

I just wanted to share a product with you that I love to use. Over 2 years ago I was using a regular ground blind but with my bad back, the weight was causing issues for me.I am Partially Disabled. I can get places...I just take a lot of breaks in order to get there. LOL. I tried to lug a regular ground blind, plus my pack, bow, etc. and I was lucky if i could walk a mile before my back went out. One season, it was so hot in the regular ground blind that i ended up stripping off my hunting cloths and all I had on were my boxer briefs. Sweat pouring down my back and legs, It was a hilarious sight to behold looking back on it now. There was no wind, It was dead calm...Until I stripped down. The wind decided to pick up and my blind started to move around. I hardly ever use the ground stakes. Here I am holding on trying to keep my dignity and pride. I'm thinking to myself....If this blind blows over, I'll be the laughing stock of the local hunting community. Two days later I sold the Ground blind.

I came across the Elk Mountain Gears Slip system on an Archery site. It looked like a product I could use. It looks way lighter than a regular portable ground blind, its a lightweight Blind, Decoy that also come with a "V" shaped Rifle/shotgun rest, a swivel Camera/Camcorder holder and Trekking pole in one lightweight package. what's neat about the 'Umbrella' is that you can change out the "Slip" to different camo or Animal decoys. They offer camo Slips in Aspen, Dark Timber, Autumn woods, Open country, Marsh, Snow, Tundra, and All purpose breakup. They offer Decoy slips in Aspen Elk, Open country Elk, Timber Elk, Pronghorn, Timber Buck, Open country buck, Canada Goose, Snow Goose, Timber Doe, Open Country Doe, Open Country Turkey, Timber turkey, and the new Moo Cow. which I just received today. We have Cattle around where we hunt and the deer don't seem to be bothered by them. I have high hopes for this Moo Cow decoy when I take my son out this October on his first Hunt.

The Company states on their Website "*Decoy Slips should always be used with caution, and are recommended for freestanding use only. NEVER USE DECOYS FOR CONCEALMENT PURPOSES DURING FIREARMS SEASONS!".

I own two of their Systems with a total of 5 slips. The slips are easy to change out. They take a beating out in the field. I also like to take my scents sticks and rub it right on the slip itself. When needed, I just remove the slip and hand wash them when it's needed. This System might not not works for everyone but i thought I'd share my personal experience with this product. If your looking for a lightweight alternative to a full size ground blind, Easily maneuverable, Adaptable Slip covers with different decoys and camo patterns, with a camera/camcorder attachment, rifle/shotgun rest attachment included and a trekking pole all in one handy package. Please take a look their website. Here's some pics of my Slip system,

The system has integrated slit for wind to pass through. it doesn't matter what blind a person uses, Wind is always a factor. I try to use common sense as to when I should use this blind. If it's too windy...I'm not gonna pull the blind out and use it. The slits around the umbrella seem to work well. I've never had the system turn inside out on me while out hunting. It can get windy where I live.

I am NOT an employee of the company or a staffer for them. Just a happy customer and hunter. Both owners, Jeff and Cory are avid Bow hunters. My buck's are not the biggest around compared to the great bucks pictured on here and in other forums but they are trophies to me.
