Good Morning Everyone-

Just checking to see what you guys think is a great choice for Hunting Backpacks.

The majority of my hunting is in Nevada/Utah and would like to have a pack large enough to handle packing out an elk, and all the gear for daytrips or overnight if I needed too. Any help would greatly appreciated. Thank you,

Mark-

Stone Glacier! Bought the Solo this fall. Most comfortable pack I've worn, I'm 6'4". Adjusts very easily, fits me just right. It has an integrated meat shelf, works very slick. I've tried mystery ranch( heavy & too short in the packs that I would use), eberlestock, badlands. Haven't used kifaru or kuiu. There is no greatest universal pack, it's give and take. I like a bare bones pack(not a bunch of pockets, webbing, etc...) that's comfy and can haul elk out, stone glacier fits the bill for me.

I like the Badlands 2200. It has been a great pack for me. The new 2200 has better zippers, that was my only complaint about the old one.

I really like my Outdoorsmans Optics Hunter pack. Big enough for a week long backcountry hunt and light enough to use for day hunts. Also, the bag comes off easily leaving a nice external frame for packing out meat.

Have the Tenzing TZ4000 ordered. Might take a look at that, it fits the bill for what your talking about. Let you know what I think when I get it and get it out in the field a bit.

I've been very happy using Kifaru Spike Camp and Late Season packs. Going on 10 years and they still work great.

i've had a number of packs from a guide packs from crooked horn, field something THREE badlands currently 2200 and wall mart and other off brands some them i still got for different reasons im currently looking to get the tenzing cuz i like a lot of pockets i need to know where stuff if at any givin time also with big compartments for meat and whatever.
Go out to the cabela's, sportsmans warehouse and take the packs off open them all up and fill them up with everything you would need at the store and adjust it to how ever you need THATS WHAT I WOULD DO SERIOUSLY.
also look at the outdoors mens the one from meat eater

I got a 2200 for sale if your interested get PM me and well talk on price i live in new mexico

+1 for Horn Hunter. I really like the complete Full Curl System though. You can remove the big duffle bag and use it as a day pack with just the frame and small pack. It has plenty of room to stay out for a few days, works great as a day pack and you can haul a pile of meat with it.
They are MADE IN THE USA and have amazing customer service and warranty on their gear. If anything ever goes wrong with it just give them a call and they will help you out.

Eberlestock is PHENOMENAL! Best pack ive used. Super tough and diverse. I have the blue widow. You wont be disappointed if you go eberlestock.

I second that, i have owned sitka, and i would stay away from them. The frame broke down on mine and my son in laws,we both have had the Blue widow for the last three years, and they handle Elk quarters nicely!

I own the Eberlestock J107, and it is HEAVY. I will be selling it this year and am going with the Kuiu Icon Pro 5200.

Horn Hunter Full Curl System owner here. As close to perfect as you can get for a true hunting pack design.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-31-14 AT 07:36AM (MST)[p]Packed out an entire quartered deer Friday night with my horn hunter full curl. I have used this pack to haul a TON of meat over the last 4 years. No problems whatsoever, not even as much as a broken buckle. It is just getting started for the season, as I have 2 elk tags coming up! I will buy another horn hunter full curl when/if this one ever gives up!

Well if it ever does happen to "give up" then with the Horn Hunter warranty you would be able to have it fixed or if they couldn't fix it they would replace it FREE!

Gotta love Horn Hunter!
