Just a heads up to ALL that buy from Sportsmans Whse apparently they have a NEW 30 Day return policy !!! I bought an Alps pack frame back in April of this year have used it 3 times still have my receipt I called to see what their return policy was !! Their customer service people & the Department manger both told me .... ANYTHING that is over 30 days old NOW has to be sent back to the manufacturer !!!! So if you buy something & something breaks or doesn't fit or wear right you can NO longer take it back to the store you have to send it back !! & hope the manufacture will stand behind their product !!! WHAT A CROCK OF S@%T !!!!! I will NEVER buy from them again !!!

Yep...been there myself with them. Last year, Worst part is I had to drive two hours each way to get to the nearest store. Done with them too.

30 days seems like plenty of time to know if something fits/doesn't fit, or to know if it's gonna work for you.
I don't see the problem....it's either this, or they raise their prices cuz they have to cover their cost of returning backpacks that guys use for a hunting season then return. You'd be bitching either way.

Traditional >>>------->

So u are OK with going to Sportsmans & buying lets say a pair of chest waders for the upcoming spring fishing season u happened to find the pair that u have been wanting to get on one of their early season sales dump $150 try them on in the store they fit fine gonna work great so 1st time out lets say 1 1/2 after u bought them & 1st time into the water u notice they have a leak BUT u have NEVER wore them well if u bought these at Sportsmans u get to contact the manufacture & send them back to them for repair or replacement !! Because Sportsmans will not accept them back past their 30 day policy !!!

30 days is plenty of time in 99.9999% of purchases.
It is a major cost to stores having large numbers of returns, they are simply making it a reasonable length of time to keep costs low.

There is no way a 90, 120 or 300 day return policy is smart money management...

I like them and will continue shopping there!

There are many things that would be nice to wish for or say but then I would be just like him.

That's a decent policy. In your situation you used it 3x then wanted to return it. IMO, that is abusing the return policy. If it broke after 3 uses, send it back to manufacturer and get a replacement. If you don't like it then you can sell it. Cabela's salesman told me about how often people that purchase high end alpha optics just before their hunt and return them after the hunt. What a crock.

I love Sportsmans. Big selection, and I don't feel like they have to up their price's to pay for their store like Cabela's. The people there are pretty friendly, and I feel like I had advantage of their return policy. They even told me how to take advantage of it.. But I always go there.

It did break & after being on 3 times the webbing had already worn thru the pack Never had anything in or on it other than a few misc items water bladder misc snacks & 1st aid kit !! I called the store & was told it DID NOT matter they would do nothing about it it was past their 30 days !! they were Not even going to offer up the phone # so I could call the Mfg !! Even the Mfg said it wasn't a very good policy & said the store should have at least had me bring it in & looked at it !! I got ahold of the Mfg myself & they offered to fix it or replace it !! Oh well to each his own I usually spend a couple of grand a year in their stores but wont anymore !! you guys keep them in business !! just remember 30 days doesn't matter if u have worn it or not looked thru it or even tried it on if theres an issue they are NOT taking it back !!

That sucks that you had that problem Oldhornhunter.
I had to return something to Sportsmans that I had for 90 days, and had not used yet. The Manager gave me an in store credit.

If the item broke, then that would have been a different story.

The good news is that Alps is very good to work with, and you should be able to get the pack fixed.

Badlands packs works this way, if it breaks you do not take it back to the store, you send it to Badlands, NOT MATTER WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT.

Good luck!

I understand the frustration. One of those cases where buying american promotes crappy business'.

I see no problem with the new policy. I also spend quite a bit of money there every year, and I will continue to. Just this last week I bought some Swaro 15's, a Manfrotto tripod, and a Manfrotto head. Everyone was great to work with. That's a hell if a lot more than I can say about Cabelas or Scheels where no one will give me the time of day because I'm young and they assume I don't have money.
