Exo Mtn Gear vs. The Outdoorsman?

I have been on a quest to find the best overall back pack out there. I will use it for lots of back country miles. Over the years I have tried Eblestock, Badlands, Kuiu, Sitka, and a few others. I still think there is something better out there. I think I have my choices narrowed down to 2 packs, the Exo mountain gear and the Outdoorsman. Both similar in idea, size, and function. Has anyone out there experienced either or both of these packs? What are your likes and dislikes? Do you have any other brands you like better? Any input will help, thanks!

I feel your pain on the pack search I have had Badlands Eberlestock Sitka Horn Hunter Alps Blacks Creek & several other aluminum & molded plastic pack frames & packs !! NONE have been really worth a CRAP . I looked really hard at EXO & spoke with one of their guys & I ended up going with the KUIU 5200 the EXO was over $100 more weighed almost a pound more & wasn't even available until sometime in 2015 !! from all the research I did narrowing my choice down the KUIU 5200 for me was a hands down NO brainer !! the bag the options the weight the price & I have yet to take it out but have loaded it down with 30 to 50 # of gear & it fits & feels better than any pack I have ever had on my back !!! just my 2 cents

I appreciate the input. I had the Kuiu Icon 6000 on a backcountry bow hunt in Colorado last year. It was alright for me, it just didnt seem to fit my body very good. I am 150 pund and 5' 10". It was tough to get the waist tight and my head would hit the top of the pack when I would try to look uphill and hike so I had to keep looking down or straight into the hill. When I had my deer loaded up, I had the head strapped to the top, and it was bending the top of the carbon frame away from my back. I probably could have done better at rigging the load on, but it was 2 A.M. and lots of miles to go so I was in a hurry. I haven't looked at the 5200, but maybe I will.

that sucks.. the new Icon Pro has 3 different belt sizes & also the new frame has 2 sizes . my youngest son is built like u tall & slender he has the same issues a buddy of his has the EXO & he could not get it tight around his waist either . You might get a hold of KUIU customer service or look at the new Pro series packs .With as HOT an item KUIU is right now u could sell that 6000 in a heart beat for almost what u paid for it . I don't think the EXO or the Outdoorsman packs are going to fit any better they all seem to have a one size fits all strapping system .. Good luck with the pack hunt

I'm also in the market for a new pack and have been considering Exo, Kuiu but didn't know about the Outdoorsman. I also may look at the Kifaru as they are close to where I live so I can see them before the Expo, then decide at the show. I hope to make it to the Expo in SLC next month as I know Kuiu and Exo will be there.

Wait for the expo and give everything a first hand look. The outdoorsman if I remember right were part of the Az tag grab with SFW, I'd never solicit them. JMO

I have the exo 3500 and have been very happy with it. Used it this fall to pack 2 elk off the mountain and it did quite well. The pocket layout fits my style of hunting better than the kuiu and kifaru I had in the past.

I really like my kuiu pack and have been very happy with how well it carries a load in the sling also.
Take a look at stone glacier also.
