How is the deer herds in that part of the state, I understand they had a good carryover, hoping that carryover made it thru the winter in good shape.

It is looking good down here. We had a good winter but not a bad one. There shouldn't be any winterkill out of the ordinary. The summer rains left the winter range in great shape as well so the deer had great feed.

I have a buddy in Monticello. He says the rifle hunters had a party and blasted a bunch due to the weather not pushing them down low into the private grounds. He did say he has seen a few decent ones on the winter grounds but not what you would normally see had the bucks moved lower before the rifle hunt started. Deer they are seeing are looking healthy and made it through the winter fairly well.

I was there last year, didn't see a lot of bucks taken due to the fog and rain up on the mountain, hunted down out the fog didn't see anything worth putting a tag on. Work at the meat locker was slow didn't see that many bucks laying on the floor last year heard the count for bucks taken was pretty low, CWMU's had a pretty good year with some really nice ones taken...
