Hey all- my BFF at 60 years old has drawn the November hunt. Id love to talk with previous hunters or anyone in the know to help him better understand what he's gotten himself in to, and whether or not this hunt is something we can do DIY or better off guided.

I deer hunted it for many many years and bison hunted it one time with a friend but all my intel dates way back!

I have been down and helped on buffalo hunts the last couple years. Best advice is to make sure you have a group spread out all over the range then when someone finds a herd have them call the hunter on radios. If you guys have horses let me know I will point you in a general direction.

He isn't on MM, he's lucky he know: how to email! But he's my BFF, and I owe him many a tip, pack out and quarter carrying.

I just hope we have enough folks to do it, or I'm suggested guided. Cuz it's gonna be funny to see him try to put a buff in a Pathfinder. :0

I hunted it when I was about his age. Took lots of friends and ice jugs to put around the meat. I got my bull buffalo without a guide, but it was no cake walk. Since I have followed other hunters who said it is harder to find a good bull buffalo.
A friend of mine and a real good hunter drew that hunt a few years back. As the hunt went on he could see he needed help and had to hire a guide who had mules so they could get in the hard places where the buff's were hanging out.
