I'm getting all set for my upcoming Boulder archery hunt (elk) and I was hoping you all might point me in the direction of any good meat processors in the area.

I think Maxfield meats in Glenwood is the best. But Frankie can only handle so much before his freezer is full. White's custom meats is always available . I have seen a guy advertising in Loa . But I don't know of anyone that has used him. Maybe someone that has used him can chime in.

I think Travis Blood in Angle still processes wild game.
If not there are several cutters in the Richfield area. Waters Edge in Monroe does good work. Delmar Waters. Bryan Snyder in Sigurd also does a good job. Good luck, that's an awesome tag!

Maxfield did me an awesome job a couple of years ago.

Whites does a horrendous job in butchering. I took my sons spike elk to them in 2013. Killed him at 7 a.m. Had him to whites by 10. Got the meat back, it was filthy, and sour. Sticks and pine needles in the meat. Definitely not my elk. The guy didn't really care when I called him to discuss it. Whites is horrible.

Another recommendation for using Water's Edge Meat Processing in Monroe. Delmar does excellent work, he processed 2 elk for myself and my dad last year, it was superb. I've used all of the processers around Richfield over the years and Delmar was the best price and his work is second to none. If it was me I would stay away from Whites Custom Meats, last time I used them the meat smelled awful no matter how you cooked it, and it tasted about as good as it smelled. It was a late season cow that was frozen when I dropped it off so it should have been good to go. This was about 10 years ago, maybe things have gotten better since then but I haven't given them another chance. Good luck on your hunt!
