Recommended elk guide

Can someone recommend a guide service they have used for elk in the past or heard good reviews about. Not unit specific at this point. Thanks

It is really almost a unit to unit kind of thing. Some guides do better on some units then others. Or you can just throw your name in the hat and call Mossback or Wade Lemon hunting. ?? It also depends on what kind of hunt you want. Do you want friends and family along ? What kind of experience do you want after it is all over. Just a tag on a animal ?

Im at that stage with a few points and wondering whether to spend them now or wait a bit. Really just looking for a good hunt with a chance at something in the 330-350 range. Not a family deal, just me. Really just wanting to do some planning. Thanks for the replies.

Well there is always a chance with the Utah system. Are you a lucky guy ? Maybe you can draw without maxs points. But I would wait until you draw the tag. There is plenty of time after that to hire a guide.

Yea, I hear ya. I got lucky last year and drew a good tag in another state. I guess I am trying to get a feel for which units to apply for to have a chance at a 330ish bull. I don't think it would be a top unit, which may make chances of drawing earlier easier? That's where I was hoping to chat with some good guides to maybe get me on the right track of where to apply.

Hey kybuck?

If you've got 10K then I've got 21 Elk Points to Share!

We'd go in to the Draw as a Group & Our Average would be 12 Points each!

You Interested?

Never Thought I'd Sell My Points off but I've gotta do Something with them!:D

Bobcat doesn't want to draw. he knows he'd need to stop talking for 15 minutes and he knows he can't pull it off.

What should a NR with 19 points do?

Ole Bessy is too busy planting lake trout in all the waters on the San Juan to actually hunt it.

19 NR points? Do you have a preference on weapon or season?

I'd only want a rifle hunt. like everyone I'd rather hunt the rut but I'd do a late hunt if it was worth the points.

Togwotee,

You could hunt both the Manti for sure and possibly even the Dutton during the rut with a rifle this year. Both are pretty good tags, just depends on what you are hoping for.

Or you can wait 34 more years to hunt the San Juan with bessy, if he hasn't killed all the elk off with lake trout by then.

let me see if i got this right i have seven points and elkass has 19 we can go together and apply as a group and we both have 14 points. is that ok in utah what about other states such as wyoming colorado etc

That's correct in most states. if you come up with an odd number of points some states round the half point up and some states round down.

Do you know if Nevada rounds up? For some reason, i could never find that in the regs.
