Bear Hunting?

I'm looking to put in for the Nebo for a bear tag. Which season is the best for any weapon spring, summer, or fall and why? I doubt I'll draw with only going in with 4 points. I have seen bears on the unit frequently and I know the unit fairly well . Just wondering what season is gonna give me the best odds of killing bear with little to no bear hunting experience.

Summer tag would be by far the best tag for the unit. There's a lot of snow up there right now. I think that would make the spring tag harder than normal to hunt this year. I drew the nebo tag with 4 points once. It's a long shot, but not impossible. Summer tag is my vote

Deerkiller that's kind of what I was thinking to with the snow. What season did you have and did you use dogs sit a stand or spot and stalk. And how did your hunt turn out.

I hunted with dogs and over bait. FS made it almost extremely impossible to get bait registered. I had the spring hunt. That winter was prettt rough lots of snow. All gates were locked until the last week of may, making access to where the bears were extremely difficult. I saw several different bear, had opportunities at small ones, bigger ones didn't really start moving around until the last week of the hunt. My hunt ended with less than desireable results. I wouldn't hunt the spring hunt again on that unit. But the summer hunt would be at the top of
My list right now

Be truthful deerkiller! plenty of people frequent this site that would still like to have words face to face for what you did on that bear hunt!

Deerkiller I hunted the same year you did my bait was easily registered I shot a pope and young bear on nebo,I guess a 40 pound cub with a rifle on a bow hunt on an unregistered bait is less than desireable results

Jeremy, you know you really shouldn't point finders at others when you have stuff to hide yourself. If you want to keep this up, I'll start my own "WHY" thread, with pics of you criminal record/charges. It's up to you on where we go from here ?

40 pounds? I thought it was only 37 pounds? ##### it grew! ? Anyways, a p&y animal isn't much to be proud of. Ive got many of them, legally. And the minimum required size for the animal is a piss head. Wanna impress someone? Shoot a b&c animal with a bow. And I wasn't charged with illegal baiting. In fact it wasn't my bait. I wasn't even aware it was illegal when he invited me to hunt it. The person who started it, was charged and convicted of it. Not me. I'll be happy to back up my claim and give you his name if you'd like

Congrats! ?? A p&y bear you say! Wow, that's quite the accomplishment. Kinda like shooting a 140" p&y pisshead muley. ?

Btw, I wasn't aware the bait wasn't registered, it wasn't my bait to begin with. The person who started the bait, actually got convicted of illegal baiting, not me. I was never even charged with it. AND what I did and got in all that trouble for, is now 100% completely legal. So I don't really get what the big deal is. I have good ideas, it just takes the dwr a little longer to catch on To them and make them "legal". ?

Man toss up a photo of your plates. I still can't wait to find your truck in person. I might have to wait for ya and say hi, maybe leave a 6 pack of bruskies in the bed

Do whatever you feel like you need to do, and I'll do the same.

I heard Wade Lemon was looking for a new guide for some sheep hunters out of Texas.

Lmfao you think im trying to hide a "criminal record"? I've got 3 tickets in my life bud! 2 traffic violations and an illegal discharge of a firearm! Ya that's right not poaching. But im sure glad you care so much of me to go ahead and research who and what I've done!

Just like you've taken the time to research me, take photos of my truck, make a thread and post it on here? So... are you the kettle or the pot?

you were reckless with a firearm? Seems like that could be a pretty big deal. Glad to hear you take firearm safety so lightly. Look, We've established I'm a "poacher". 5 years ago. And I've never tried to hide it or cover it up. Come up with some new material. We've already heard it all before. My license plates say "poacher" for hell sakes. I'm obviously not too shaken up by it. It's time for something new

Hahaha ya ok i was a half mile from any house shooting some ducks! Little did I know they changed the zoning of city limits. Nobody was in danger not even myself but thanks for caring! I forgot to ask you did you shoot all your "many P&Y animals" with a bow or did you use a rifle?

Btw i never researched you i dont even know your name! I had several phone calls telling me about what happened and how liked you are around the community down there! Sorry I was the one that pissed in your cheerios and posted a pic of your plate.

And I'll bet $20 I could tell you who those phone calls came from. I wasn't aware I was such a big deal in this community ? Anyways, I'm done discussing this whole bear thing that happened a long time ago. If you wanna talk about it any more, you call me. Your informants can get you my number

So having a tag makes killing a cub and its mom with a rifle on a archery only hunt no big deal everybody does it !Also it doesn't matter if the bait wasn't legal you have to register your own bait ?

And this is where rumors come from. I never shot a cub and it's mother, I shot a sub adult male bear. Basically like shooting a 2 point buck. Which I was legal to do. I also was never charged or convicted of illegal baiting. Someone else was charged and convicted of that as well.
