Most every decent spot will be picked clean by April. Been out pulling trail cams from the winter and lion hunting, and everywhere I've been there are boot tracks leaving the road every 100 yards. The DWR doesn't have the ability to patrol or enforce any of their rules. They employ way too many "biologists" to sit at a desk and have almost no one in field.

That's my worry about keeping it closed until April 1st, is that they can't police it right so those of us who abide by the rule get the shaft. I think they know that too, but they're in a tough position, cause they don't feel that they can just sit on their hands when there's 2 feet of snow on the ground.

Start putting some doctored sheds out with GPS chips in them, sure will slow some of those antler grabbers.
Fines starting at $1000 will help too.

If they'd put all their office workers in the field and enforce the rules they already had, they wouldn't need a closure. I like to think I spend a fair amount of time on the mountain, and I've never in my life seen a biologist in the field. Our area has one law enforcement guy, he's a great guy but he's way over his head with the amount of area he's expected to patrol.

Maybe they need to pull hunting and fishing privileges for a year for those caught she'd hunting when closed.

Thats just it.....there isnt 2 feet of snow on the ground down south. Its gone....we did get a couple iches last night...it will be gone by tomorrow. Back to 60 degrees and sunny gorgeous weather like it has been the last month. If u guys up north want this law...keep it up north. Wyoming is split in 2....i think utah should do the same

You have never been to the book cliffs. This time of the year the DWR even take the secretary's.Then come hunting season you never see one.

Arns, You think I've never been to the Book Cliffs? That's pretty laughable as I live on the south side of the unit, and I'd bet pretty heavily I spend more days on the books than 99% of people on MM.

That explains It,come to the north side say Indian ridge, Kings well,Buck canyon. They will find you.

I live on the north side and I spent a lot of time out there last season and I ran into the biologist 3 times and ran into the fish cops during my hunt and I know there patrolling it really heavy now till April 1

>April fools day !!!!! How appropriate!!!!

That's exactly what I was thinking, JT.
Sounds like a great day to drive to the rifle range and pop a few caps.

The teal are in Utah in Aug, screw you guys, I'm going teal hunting. And while I'm at it, I liked the Nov. muzzleloader season, so, F U, its good for me, I'm on it. And lastly, I huntied the Manti BEFORE it was LE, so this year, its OPEN BULL for me, after all, ITS ALL ABOUT ME, I'm gonna get mine!!

Heres a novel idea, perhaps we tax horn being sold at 50%, proceeds to the DWR. AND, a forfeit of tag for a year if caught. OR PERHAPS a collecting tag, $35 for the tag?

Bet your azz, the same dudes in here whinning, had winter kept on that same course, and no closure, would have been all over the forums with pics of dead, winter killed deer, screaming and yelling about how nothing was done, the DWR doesn't care about deer, etc, etc, etc. Sorry, but when in doubt, over compensating on the protection of the resource vs commercial endeavors needs to be the rule. And lets not pretend different, for every one dude who is looking for that big matching set, there are 20 out collecting to sell to the dealers.

BTW, some of my fondest memories were of fishing season opening weekend. Making something an event ain't always a negetive.
