Can the public access that tower above Spanish fork? The one that is south of hwy 6 and north of loafer mtn.

Also, are there any hunting stipulations on the Loafer Mt state wildlife area and/or the nebo wilderness?

Thanks in advance.

If you know the back way around the main gate on the road, ya you can access it with an ATV. It's technically illegal and the road is pretty sketchy at best, but if you are daring, it can be done.

As far as special restrictions go, I'm not aware of any that pertain to that part of the unit, other than the general laws and regulations that apply state wide. If you plan on hunting it though, I would be extremely selective on the size of animals you decide to chase and where you shoot them. That place can get pretty ugly in a lot of spots with a dead animal to try and get out. Even with horses, it can be tough. It's definitely not a place you want to go archery elk hunting and shoot a cow when you are by yourself, thinking you can handle it on your own.

It would only be for deer. I'd just cook it up and eat it till there was nothing but the antlers and cape left ?

So it's illegal to acces that road all together? Can you just hike it?

If you were to hike it, I wouldn't hike to the top up the actual road. I'd head up the loafer mtn trail off the nebo loop and access it that way. It's illegal to take a wheeler up around the gate, but it's done on such a regular basis, I don't think you'd get harassed too much as long as you stay off the private and don't cause any trouble. We use to go up there all the time and never got bothered. I haven't heard of anyone getting a ticket in quite a while. You might want to just go knock on the dudes door who lives at the base of the road and ask if there's any way they would give you permission to access it. Might be a long shot, but it could be worth a try

Cool. Thanks for the info. My only reason for getting to that tower would be to glass loafer not access it.

So is driving even 1 MPH over the speed limit, and I'm
Sure none of you would ever exceed that, especially on a daily basis.

It's always amazed me at all the internet Jesus' there are in the hunting world, especially in Utah. Yet, when actually put in a real world situation, I rarely ever see these people practice what they preach or claim to be. I guess I'm just the ##### for being honest about things, when a lot of people
Claim to be ethical, law abiding citizens, when in reality, not so much. I'm glad we live in a world where we get to pick and choose what we deem ok to bend or break the rules in our daily personal lives, yet criticize another person for not being 100% within the law at all times.

I'll take being the honest, bad example any day over being a fake critical hypocrite. But to each their own I suppose

Grrrrrrrrr...deerkiller is angry!

Hey deerkiller, driving drunk is only technically illegal, and so many people do it anyway, don't worry about it. Just go ahead and do it. You know, all those self-righteous hypocrites are driving 1 mph over the speed limit, so driving drunk, poach whatever you want, beat your wife or significant other, whatever you want. After all, lots of people do it, and don't forget about those speeders that make everything else okay too!

The good thing is I believe the OP has the good sense to know who to take advice from, and who not to.

I'm not angry, in fact, as I'm sure you're well aware, I enjoy saying things to irritate people. It's fun to see people get so worked up over words. Including you. You are one of the few Originals who can't stand to read my posts and not comment on them.

It's also amusing to see people pick and choose what they see as acceptable and what's not, when breaking the law is concerned. I'd rather someone drive out around a gate blocking access to public land, than see someone drive drunk, speed down the highway or beat their wife. Hell I'd rather someone poach a trophy animal than see someone beat on their spouse or drive drunk. You obviously don't share the same views. Which is fine, but if you are gonna criticize someone for breaking the law, you probably should have your ##### straightened out before you do.

For the record, when we went up the tower mountain road, "illegally" we were in high school, 10 years ago, and we also had permission to be up there on the truck road. It was just too inconvenient to stop at the guys house every time and get the key from them.

I would recommend contacting the DWR to verify whether or not it's really illegal. I don't believe it is illegal. In fact, I remember a Dedicated Hunter service opportunity a few years ago to blast a couple of boulders at the bottom of the trail that were making it particularly treacherous. Why would the DWR be involved in improving the trail if it was illegal?

What is illegal is to go through the Dream Mine main gate at the bottom, but that's locked anyway. If you use the alternate trail to skirt the dream mine property at the bottom, I think it's perfectly legal (but still sketchy from a safety perspective as far as I'm concerned).

For once I agree with deerkiller. It is a private road and private property and the trail around the gate is very dangerous. Trail goes back to a private road. Deerkiller was right on in his explanation of the mtn.
