Willard Peak Nanny

I was one of the lucky ones who drew a nanny tag for WP. I plan on scouting a lot this summer and hiking all over the mountain but any tips or info on which trailheads or areas to start from would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I've been on this site for many many years and have contributed info/help but it's been a while since I posted and couldn't remember my username so I had to create a new account.

Congrats on the tag.
Head south from Inspiration point to scout and hunt.
Having a goat in a place that doesn't lead to a 300ft fall off a cliff will be something to consider.

I drew the Any Goat tag 5 years ago and harvested a great Billy. Inspiration point and you can go east or west to find them. Pretty much everywhere you go you will find them. Pm me and I can give you some more detail. I grew up at the base of Ben Lomand and know it well.

Do your homework on differentiating between Billy and Nanny. Harder than you might think on the hill.

I'll echo a comment earlier. Consider the consequences of where they could fall after the shot. My Goat rolled of a 300 foot cliff. Luckily didn't do any damage to it. The retrieval and subsequent hike out were brutal!!!

We know it well. Send me a PM if you want some info. My brother shot a Boone and Crockett Billy last year on it. It will be in Eastman's magazine in the next several months.

Congrats on the tag, and wish you well on the hunt. I really expected my father to draw that tag this year. He went into the draw with 12 points. Not sure what went wrong there?

Lots of helpful folks and people on the forum and am sure you will get some great advice. I have not hunted the area, but hope to soon!

Congrats on the tag

LAST EDITED ON May-30-17 AT 05:56PM (MST)[p]Some good advice given. I know that area very well! I spend about 2 weeks during the summer up there. You can go south from inspiration point on the trail heading to Ben Lomond Peak (easiest route and plenty of goats to see)
I've also heard of many going north from Inspiration Point along the ridge line. Theres goats to see there as well.

But most of the goats will be near the tops of Willard Peak and Ben Lomond. A good spotting scope used from Inspiration point will help you find their hangout spots.

There are cliffs for them to fall off of. Good luck and congrats on the tag.
