Though we had a wrap on this one......

Non-res- 4 guys with 13 points for a 3.25 avg....not drawn

What did I miss?

Southwest Desert Rifle elk ? That is a tough hunt to draw as a single guy with max points. If you drew as a group and there are only two tags left in the pool. You get kick out and they try another.

LAST EDITED ON May-25-17 AT 10:59AM (MST)[p]Assuming he's talking general rifle deer. Which according to last years numbers you should have drawn this year. Maybe messed up on your app, messed up credit card, not as many points as you thought? Can't tell you how many times guys can't figure out why they didn't draw just to find out they didn't have the points they said they did.

Thanks,

It was for Sept Muzz Hunt.

Probably tougher odds than I thought.

I usually put in alone, but this time 4 of us wanted to go together.
I had 6 points, shared with my bro. Other two guys had 3 and 4 each.

It is what it is.

Maybe Nevada will be kind to my 17 points...or maybe this is the year to chase fuzzy coues in AZ.

Thanks and best of luck!

Sucks but it does happen.. really messes your plans up to. I put in with two other buddies for NR general beaver any legal weapon last year and we averaged 2.33; looking over the posted results there were 144 in the 2 point group and 114 of those got tags. Pretty bad odds of not drawing but there you go. Then to take it a little deeper we put my buddies daughter in with 0 points to tag along and she actually drew! Pretty cool about the youth chances though.

Drew a general muzz in Utah this year though so that's cool!

LAST EDITED ON May-29-17 AT 07:16PM (MST)[p]I don't think UT averages preference points in the general season draw. They do average bonus points for the Limited entry draw. You would have went in the draw with the lowest individual point total.

>dumb not to average them

It's false! Utah DOES average points for ALL group applications. Click on the DWR website and search for "applying as a group".

The OP may not have drawn the group permit because of the fact that he (and maybe some of his group) is a nonresident and there were no nonresident permits left when the group's number came up or there weren't enough nonresident/resident permits left to fill up the application. Whatever the case, it's harder now to draw as a group with the smaller units and quotas (one of many unintended consequences of Option #2).

Edited: FWIW, the OP said they averaged 3.25, but Utah rounds that down to 3.

This^^^^
They average points , then round down to the next whole number.
Your .25 point did nothing for y'all.
