Hello fellow elk enthusiasts...I pulled a Southwest Desert 2nd rifle tag this year. I have been hearing/reading quite a few conflicting reports on the elk in that unit (bull quality is way down,still good bulls to be found). What are your thoughts on the unit and type of bull a guy should expect to find. Would be great to hear from a couple of last years tag holders and folks that spend time down there. Pics would be great. Thanks!

The late hunt is no gimme! There are some great bulls on the unit each year but the late hunt is a much tougher hunt than most expect. Depending on how well you know the unit you might look into an outfitter. Dustin with ShaneScottOutfitting knows this unit very well.
