Can somebody give me a basic rundown(or a link) on CWMU's and how they work? Are they the same as a landowner tag or are the two mutually exclusive? Does Utah have landowner tags as well? Etc...

Thanks. Are there also landowner tags that are different than the CWMU tags? This is where it gets confusing to me.
CWMU operators have landowner tags that you can purchase yes. Some of the tags are in the draw as well. Only residents can put in for CWMU hunts in the draw. Some CWMU operators are set up with a 90/10 split tag system (90% of the their tags are available to purchase while 10% go into the draw) other operators are set up on an 80/20 split, etc. I'm assuming more tags go to an operator as a benefit the state gives to them if more tags are allowed to go in the draw.(80/20 or 70/30) I know the size of the property has something to do with it as well.

There are both. Some land owners that are not CWMU Operators, have landowner tags, they sell them to anyone,, Resident and/or non-Resident. The Utah Deoartment of Wildlife Resources can tell you who they have issued landowner tags to.
CWMU Operatirs have landowner tags as well. They too sell them to residents of Utah and non-Residents of Utah. The on-line application proclamation lists the names and phone numbers of all the CWMU Operators.
CWMU Operator must allow the State to offer a few of their tags to Reddence of Utah only, these few tags are applied for and drawn by the State as part of the Utah Big Game draw process. Non-Residents are not invited to apply for these few tags.
