Hey guys my name is Latigo. Moved to Utah from Fernley, NV. Not new to the website, just a new profile. Pretty new to Elk hunting although I've been Mule Deer hunting my whole life. I suffered a terrible accident 2 years ago, but I've made a miraculous recovery since then. Unfortunately I'm permanently confined to a wheelchair, paralyzed from the chest down. Also, just because I'm in a wheelchair doesn't make me entitled to think hunting will be easy. I know their are no free handouts. I'm willing to hunt hard and exert the energy it takes to be successful just like an able bodied hunter.
I'm going to buy a GS bull elk archery tag, or a cow spike elk GS tag if that's the right name for it. I am eligible to hunt Aug 14 -18th on the disabled archery extension so that is an advantage. I'm not asking anyone for any great spots, just some feelers or someone to point me in the right direction ,accessible areas etc. to get started hunting elk in productive units I might consider paying a trespass fee to hunt cow elk on private land, but I know some landowners really inflate the cost in Utah for access. This might be just a good year to scout and learn some new areas. I would appreciate any advice or PM's thanks
