I hope one of my fellow MM members gets the phone call from UDWR with news that they are next in line for my West Desert Vernon rifle deer tag. Let me know if it's you.

Why the Return?

Hope All is Well!

Back Me Off to 1,700 Yards,650 is a Little Close & I'm Not Comfortable with it!

A GUT SHOT at 1,700 Yards will Still Make Some Good BRAGGIN Rights so I Can Say I At Least Hit Him!

All is great. Thanks for the reply. Luck was on my side this year and I drew a Wyoming bull tag and a New Mexico unit 16D bull tag. The New Mexico hunt and the WD Vernon hunt conflict. Someone else could do the hunt more justice.

Shedneck,

Wise decision. You can draw that deer tag next year and never know when you'll draw a NM 16 tag again.

Good luck in WY and NM.

This is one of many reasons why some sort of a point system is a good thing. Atleast you have and idea of when you might draw a tag, instead of just luck. Sure there's always a chance to get lucky in some states systems, But in general it does help with hunt conflicts such as this one. Congrats on drawing some great tags. Hope you have a great time.

Thank you for the reply. The points vs no points debate is certainly a hot topic on this forum with people passionate about both sides of the argument. Personally, I appreciate the point system for many reasons, including the one you pointed out. Utah and Wyoming both have a variation of the point system which I have invested in for a relatively long time. Strangely, I drew a max point unit in Wyoming without max points and I drew a random permit for the West Desert without max points. The chances of drawing a West Desert deer tag, Wyoming bull tag, and a Gila New Mexico bull tag are probably pretty horrible. It would have been tough to predict that draw. With Utah apps due so early in the year, it was a chance that I was willing to take. I really appreciate Utah's permit surrender system with point reinstatement and a refund (minus $25).

Those elk are better to hunt anyways. You wanna go to vegas and place a bet on the mcgreggor mayweather fight sounds like you have some hot hands this year. Good luck on the elk hunts. Throw some pics up of your bulls.
