San Rafael North Archery Antelope

Hi guys,

I'm in San Rafael north hunting pronghorn but not seeing the quality of animals I expected. Any advice is appreciated. I'm hunting south of Price on 6 but put on a lot of miles and did a lot of glassing the last two days. I've seen a lot of bucks but only one that was above average.

I would expect to find a couple in the 80's. I've glassed a lot of ground and looked at a lot of animals but nothing close to that.

I could be wrong, but from what I recall reading, 80" goats are few and far between in Utah. Sure it's unit specific. Maybe more can chime in. I personally want a 80" myself but also think a mid 70's is a nice goat. Just my 2 cents. As said before, keep after it and good luck. Post pics when you harvest.

This is the old Icelander unit and if you were to open the record book, it would be were you want to hunt. I had the tag a few years back and my brother and I shot book animals there. PM and I can let you know if the areas that you're glassing/ hunting are worthwhile.

You do understand you are hunting in Utah and not the red desert portion of Wyoming, right? I know the San Rafael unit is the better of goat units in Utah, but even then, it's no where what it use to be.

I would second that.. I live in the Unit and have seen a few nice goats lately. There are a few big goats in the desert lake area right now also.
