What general unit

I'm looking to hopefully draw a general tag next year I'm sitting on three points and I'm not sure where to go to burn them. I would like to kill a 160 inch buck or greater is what I would try and hold out for. What area do you guys recommend that could give you a chance at reaching that goal. I am still young and don't mind hiking and even packing in and setting up a base camp and hunting from there .

Resident or NR? Weapon?

I have already given you a recommendation in the past. I won't post the unit again as I have seen a huge increase in the number of people in the area I hunt. Just FYI I shot a 170+ buck on this unit on opening day of archery last Saturday. If you can't find my post from the last time you asked just pm me and I'll tell ya again.

Good advise.
There's good bucks all the units in the state right now. It just depends on what type of hunting you want to do.

As much as it pains me to agree, I do have to say the west desert tintic is definitely in the top 5 worst deer units in the state. I have lived in this unit for 12 years, and have been all over it for various reasons and I would never consider hunting it. There's tons of public land but unless you know the few areas these deer like to live in or you know someone who will allow you access to private ground that doesn't see pressure, you are gonna be In for a long disappointing hunt. Especially if deer numbers and buck size matter to you. Not saying it can't be done, there's good bucks shot in this unit every year. But there are better options.

My buddy killed an awesome buck on the west desert tintic last year. He had a blast of a hunt and seamed to be into big deer quite a bit

And I'll bet that wasn't your buddy's first rodeo with the unit.

For the most part depending on how much of that fire was super hot the Panguich unit should be a better unit after the fire.

Next year may not be enough time to see it.

why would you say that?
