Hi! I haven't drawn for the deer hunt in two years, so I finally decided to scrap up some money and get an over the counter tag for the rifle elk hunt this year. This is my first elk hunt, and I have a general idea on where to go, the mineral mountain area, but I don't know any specific spots around there. I'm not searching for the biggest one, but I just want to at least get into some bull elk and make it a fun hunt with my son. I know it is really late to be asking this, but any more info on this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I deer hunt this area every year during the muzzle loader season. Just finished up last Monday. I also have a general rifle elk tag but I haven't seen any elk in this area for a couple years. There used to be several bulls running around out there and I would see them quite regularly. I haven't seen any fresh elk sign either.

Maybe I've been in the wrong place at the wrong time out there lately, but I'm not spending my elk hunt there. Good luck if you go and let me know what you see.

Been seeing tracks cross my property quit regularly but have not seen one lately. Must be going by at night.

Saw a few tracks on the Beaver Antelope hunt but no Elk.

2 bulls got killed by cars on the HYW not far from my house last year.

There are bound to be a few Bulls out there.

How was your antelope hunt??? My son had the archery tag out there last year it was a good time...

Thanks for all the replies! I just reread my original post, and I noticed that I said Son instead of the Dad (I am the son). Just wanted to clear this up hopefully well get one this week!

Small world. This is totally my nephew. Welcome to Monstermuleys Ethan! I'm sorry I don't know where the elk are in that area. I think the general bull can be super tough down there because of very low numbers. Those that know typically keep it hush hush so they don't ruin their good area. Keep at it. Hope you see something tonight.

His family moved out of state when he was a toddler. His whole life he's had a huge desire to hunt big game but was unable to. They moved St George a couple years ago but has been unsuccessful at drawing a deer tag for that area.
