15 NR Deer Points - S. Slope Diamond or ?

I am a non-res with 15 deer points. Not sure if I want to try to draw this year or not but I figure I better do some digging just in case. This will be a one-and-done hunt for me as I am soon to be 62.

South Slope, Diamond Mountain has caught my eye. The muzzy dates seem terrible but the success rate is very high. The rifle dates aren't that great either and there is a full moon smack dab in the middle of it. Does one of the two typically offer better odds for a 180 buck?

Just looking for some info from guys that have done this hunt in either of those seasons. Suggestions on other units to spend the points on would also be welcomed. Let me add, I have no problem waiting a few more years if that makes sense as 15 is right on the cusp of some other options.

Thanks in advance for any intel.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-07-18 AT 09:12PM (MST)[p]Hi fallguy, it might be better to post in the General Hunting forum. Most of the guys on there are from Utah.
If 2lumpy or Muley73 gives you any advice take it, he's the man and son on deer in Utah

Good luck

There probably be some guys that say I'm wrong but that's ok.The problem with Diamond is that there is a hole lot of private. They own most of the the bottoms of every draw and the BLM is at the top of these draws so the access is hard to get to. I would probably put in for the book cliffs you are real close to drawing it.And the good thing about the books it's about 95% BLM.The other thing is the 180 class bucks are a pretty tall order on about all the units in Utah. They kill a few but it's a small percentage.

There is a lot of private. But still a better muzz hunt than the book cliffs in my opinion. Pm me if you want more info.
