Will be in Salt Lake for a few days soon. I know yelp/tripadvisor etc can give good recommendations but review sites are becoming increasingly gamed. Where do the locals or those that spend a lot of time there like to eat? I am open to pretty much any type of cuisine.

Tucanos Brazilian Grill

All you can eat meat/steak and salad bar.

162 S 400 W, SLC
In the Gateway mall

My father in law owns it.
He is pro hunter and allows (legal) concealed carry in the restaurants.

Oh man, now we're talking my language! Where are you coming from? I know you said any type of cuisine would do, but SLC is a decent sized city and has a TON of places to eat. We don't really have a local fare that is unique to Utah, but we have some great places to eat. Some of what you've been told are fantastic options. Here would be my picks for certain types of food.

Mexican food: Red Iguana
Burgers: Lucky 13 (and I really like Rich's Burgers on Broadway and From Scratch is pretty good too)
Philly cheese or meatball sub: Moochies
BBQ: Pat's BBQ (R&R is pretty good as well, but I'm partial to Pat's)
Pizza: The Pie or Litza's (I'm a sucker for Litza's...)
Greek: Padeli's Street Greek
High end Steakhouse: Flemmings or Ruth's Chris (RC is everywhere, though)
Expensive buffet with incredible views: The Roof (people have a love-hate with this place...you either love it, even though it's expensive, or it's way overpriced. Not really a middle ground)

You seriously have almost a never ending option of food places, just depends on what you are in the mood for and where you will be at the time.

LAST EDITED ON May-15-18 AT 06:59PM (MST)[p]R&R BBQ it's awesome and cant be beat. Red iguana lucky 13 market street grill all good choices

Sounds good, I will try some of these places out, thanks for the suggestions. Always like to try new spots.

Tyson-

We apparently enjoy similar joints. Are you by chance a restaurant reviewer in your spare time?

Mom's home cooking been going there since I was a kid. Best chicken fried steak and the scones are one of the best I have had. Can't go wrong and the prices are reasonable. I never go through Salina without stopping.

I believe the chairs are the same ones I sat in as I kid. Great local hangout....

Hawkeye- I'm not good at much in life, but I can eat, and I do enjoy food! (A little too much...)

Too bad you can't make a living doing that.

Not sure when you would be around, or what you like, but a lot of the listed places are really good.

The only item I would change on any of the mentions would be the philly. while moochies has a GREAT atomic meatball, I find the phillh lacking. For the philly I would do maxwells, east coast subs or the Philadelphian.

There are some gray hole in the wall burger joints and Mexican joints as well

LAST EDITED ON Jan-27-19 AT 07:15PM (MST)[p]With the coming expo is a good time to revisit, any new good places or cant miss eating spots in the SLC area?

Recommended places that proved true the last couple trips were:

Pats BBQ
R&R BBQ
The Pie (great pizza)
Red Iguana
Squatters
Pretty Bird (fried chicken)
CHIP cookies

Another one we happened across that had some dynamite italian food was Cafe Molise.

Curry Pizza, in West Valley...

Purgatory Asian Food & Sushi will be on Tripple D this spring...

That R&R BBQ sure sounds good just about right now!

If you like indian, Bombay House has the best lamb korma and naan ever !!!

If you like a local bar and grill, the Cotton Bottom for a garlic burger and beer can't be beat.

Cheers,
Pete

If people don't mind a drive up the canyon 20 min Billy Blancos is one of my favorites. Bout time has some of the best bar food out there I feel too!

Sicilia Pizza and Kitchen - 35 West 300 South SLC.

Great pizza, but you have to try the honey garlic chicken legs or wings. They are amazing. You won't be disappointed. Great owner that is usually there working along side the workers also.
