Pulled a tag for this unit and wanted to go spend some time hiking around with my 5 year old boy. Probably spend most my time in the wilderness area and around enterprise reservoir. Just curious what the snake situation is like and how cautious I need to be with the youngster. Spent some time down there in the winter, but never in the summer. Always looked pretty snaky to me. Thanks
 
Archery hunt it every year I've seen three rattlers just in the wilderness area specifically. See them almost on a weekly basis in other areas of the unit
 
snakes are plenty! always hike with caution especially in the thick scrub oak
good luck its a great unit and plenty of nice bucks around
 
Thanks for the response guys not what I was hoping for but kind of what I figured. Sounds like I better keep a close eye on the boy. Glad to hear there is a few bucks running around, looking forward to putting some time in down there, maybe turn up a couple great bucks.
 
Yep I have had 3 very very close encounters with rattle snakes on PV. And have seen quite a few. They are there and you need to be prepared but they are not around every brush either I've went full seasons with out seeing any. But seems like this year the snakes in general are a plenty. Haven?t seen a rattler on pv yet this year tho
