Uintas West Goat

Hello, New member here and I bet it can get annoying for first time posters to ask for info but I figured this is a once in a lifetime hunt and I would rather ask than not ask. I drew goat for the North slope/south slope, uintas West unit. I know some of the area but I have never hunted it, I can make my own work schedule, so I plan on scouting quite a lot during the summer. I also have access to pack animals. If anyone has hunted this unit for goats and would like to share any info, it would be much appreciated. Thank you

I don't know that area but I'd recommend that you get involved and then people will want to help more.

If you're on Facebook there is a Rocky Mountain goat hunting group you can join and ask questions easier than some of the forums.

Blindstream is a good place to start looking. You should be able to find one pretty easy.

Much of the fun for this hunt is the scouting. I scouted basins, peaks and fished many high Uinta lakes for years before I finally drew my permit in the Uinta West unit.

Talk to the Biologist for the unit. He can tell you if the Goats have moved around to different peaks recently or if they still congregate on the same peaks they've hung out on for the last few years.

You can find the Goats just about anywhere in the high country. The nice thing about it is they are fairly easy to spot, especially if you're on top of the peaks.

My wife drew this tag last year. We had a fun hunt and saw a lot of goats. There is road access in some areas and backpack areas in other, depending on the type of hunt you want to have. You can PM me and I can give you all the info I have on the hunt. Good luck and congrats. This was one of the coolest/funnest hunts I've ever been on.
