Manti LE archery elk

I'm helping my brother in law on his first archery hunt and he hit the jackpot. Didn't really expect him to draw so here we go. I'm fairly familiar with the central portion of the unit (Carbon,Emery counties)but want to look into other areas as well. Wondering about the northern end along HWY 6 in spanish fork canyon. Curious about the hunting pressure, recreation crowds during the season. I plan on taking a drive this weekend to wander around the area maybe Tucker, Dairy Fork etc. Anybody familiar with the area that doesn't mind throwing me a bone? TIA

Personally I'd check out the southern part of The unit before I looked at the north. I've always seen lots of elk above the gunnison/Salina part of the unit. Lots of bulls down lower in the cedar country that never even see an archery hunter, as well as lots of elk up at the top of the mountain around gunnison valley and Mary?s nipple. If you can find water down low in the cedar country and are patient, there's a great opportunity for an archery guy to kill a nice bull early in the season before The rut gets goin. That said, the north end is full of elk as well. The amount of people tends to be a little higher on the north end from what I've experienced, but I've seen the south end pretty busy too some years
