henry mountain bison 1st cow hunt

I recently received a cow tag for the first hunt. I'm really excited, but haven't done any scouting and wont have time before the hunt due to family obligations. I have hunted the unit in the past with my family and been successful, but they were really spread out that year and we basically just got lucky. ive talked recently to a guide who has been on the unit a lot this fall for the deer hunts and hes told me that many of the bison are actually up on the mountain this year because of the lack of feed this year from the drought conditions. I was wondering if any of the bull hunters or anyone who has been in the area recently could confirm this claim and maybe give me some suggestions on where I should start looking. I understand this isn't the correct way to go about these kinds of hunts, but aside from just going in blind its my only option at this point. I realize once the guns start going off its anyones guess as to where they could end up and with the amount of tags offered this year its most likely gonna be a circus at best, I was just curious if id be better off focusing my efforts in the lower, chained off areas and valley/mesa areas like normal years or if Id be better off glassing up higher where ive been told all the feed is this year.

also curious if they are still on the mountain right now, if the forecasted snow will tend to push them off for lower ground or if they will just tough it out and stay as high as they can for as long as they can.

thank you in advance for any advice or replies I may get. PMs are welcome if the info is sensitive. it wont be shared again as common knowledge as I know how hard it can be to figure some of these places out. any private info will die with me. thanks again!

Not sure if it will help now, but I was on the mountain 2 weeks ago and there was a herd of about 30 as high as you could get on Ellen.
If you took the Ellen Peak Trail at the Pass, you would walk right to them. However, The Pass was impassable due to snow and we couldn't make it to that trail head. Good Luck on your hunt.
