Awesome buck! I'm saving my preference points for whitetail. Whats a good unit to put in for? Great pics! Love those brow tines!

a good unit for whitetail would mostly be anywhere you can find a riverbottom. im from the north part part of the state. dont know much about the south east and south west part of the sate

Yea, I heard the best units are in the northeast corner, but sometimes it's tough to find an area with decent public land.It will be a few years down the road before I go so I'm trying to gather as much info as I can over the next couple years!Powder river? Devil's tower?

Total Toad. Great Buck.

Look at the upper left hand side of the original
post.

Maybe the Lord had more to do with it than I thought.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-29-07 AT 05:29PM (MST)[p]Don't know if it's worth it to use your pts. on whiteys. I'd put a quality muley unit as my 1st choice and whitetail as my 2nd. I used to hunt Region A (units 1-6) for several yrs in a row and always drew a tag. They even had tags leftover last yr as I got one in the 2nd drawing because I hadn't applied in the 1st. Just my 2 cents. Nice deer, by the way!

You're right backpacker! I enjoy hunting muleys but have yet to get a wallhanger whitetail. Since I'm unfamiliar with Wyoming I'm asking a lot of questions . After checking the draw odds on this great website, units 1-6 look like an assured tag. The years that you hunted region A did you do well and is there some good access to public land ?

Can somebody point me to some info on Whitetail in the south and east portions of Wyo? Thanks

Your post is in the Whitetail section, so I assume that's what you're after? I have hunted WY four times, twice near Sundance and twice near Encampment. Never seen a whitetail by Encampment. Tons if whities in the BHNF by Sundance. I did all DIY and stayed in motels and hunted NF land or BLM. I preferred the Area A hunts as they were closer to the rut and 100% draw. Encampment is early Oct and usually hot. Not sure if this helps you or not. Good luck.

>THANKS FOR THE REPLY .
>WHERE IS BHNF?

That is Black Hills National Forest. NE WY just above Sundance. Sundance has a couple good motels to stay at and 3-4 restaurants within walking distance. Nice place to stay and hunt. I liked them.

I can't believe you shot your buddies' litte brother's whitetail. He cried and cried when you shot him out from underneath him..... Plus your taxidermist cried when you sent the picture on your cell phone when you ruined the cape.

nontypical 250. i told you once i was late for school i had to drive four hours to get to school. and well i dont have the money to do it. and i told that little kid that the buck would come to my place.

geez....who does that? you shot your best friends little brothers deer? well atleast the kid has the sheds and wont ever give them to you...or unless you pay him a good chunk of change :). but ya dude, i wouldnt never shoot my best buddys little brothers deer....oh ya. and im also buying some snow shoes here soon, keepin that in mind

alright little brink. next time i will call a timeout and come and get you then you can shoot him off my property. i worked just as hard for that buck as you did. i was out sun up to sun down.

you worked just as hard as i did? im calling b.s. on that one! did you walk your butt off looking for his sheds for the past two years? set up trail cameras? sit on the river bottom and wait see where he was going? i didnt think so buddy!!! but next year sounds like a plan. ill let you shoot the deer i didnt get this year...sound good? dude....this weekend...we gotta hit the hills.

Great buck I used to hunt them in Region C on the powder river but now concentrate more South East near Nebraska
Congrats on the great WT
