I have the opportunity to hunt deer in Indiana this fall, Steuben (sp) county, in the northeastern section. I will have only seven days to hunt so I'm trying to get information as to when the best timeframe to place those seven days would be. I will be archery hunting, would obviously like to hunt during the rut, or prerut.

I know the rut move around some, but usually there is a higher probablity of hitting the rut during specific times. Thank you in advance.

Anytime Nov 1 - 15 that your schedule allows. Around the 7th or so is the best time to be in the woods. Sit all day as the bucks will actively be moving.

I think the 1st week of Nov is the best. Once the rut kicks into high gear it's more difficult to stop a buck when he's chasing does. Hunt all day if you can, the big bucks get up & start moving around noon. Bring your grunt call & decoy if you have one. I live in North Central Indiana not to far away, i hunt in Marshall county. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I agree with the first week or two of November. Remember, though, that there are NO big deer in Indiana.

Hoosierbuck... I have heard the same thing about the size of bucks in Indiana. Thought I might just come out and make sure for myself.

Tickets are bought for the first week of November.

welcome to NE Indiana and Steuben County is a great hunt.

First week of Nov hands down, still far enough from the peak that the bucks are really on the move..

Breakfast and lunch at the Village Kitchen in Angola and if you're bringing the wife Dinner at the Hatchery after the hunt and cocktails.

Due west of Fremont on SR 120 in Lagrange County is a public archery range that should still have targets up (walk thru)

Clay's North of Angola is also an excellent place to eat..

If you're staying in a Hotel one of the new ones North of Pokagon would be my recommendation there's a Hampton and a HI express right there..
