in the regulations i see 455-70 is a special permit area for whitetails. has anybody hunted this unit. i know vehicle travel is restricted which i like . just trying to get some input for the special permit drawing .thanks

You can archery hunt it for whitetails. Ive heard there are some real dandys that live in that country. Ill let you know after this season.

I've drawn the elk tag there twice (unsuccessful, no horses, didn't dedicate enough time, no snow, blah blah blah).

Very cool place to hunt. Saw one nice, heavy 4x4 white tail on my way out one day. Lots of mule deer way up the trails. I wasn't there during the rut.

The area has three main drainages, all with good trails, that have interconnecting trails between them several miles up stream on each trail.

No wheeled vehicles, horse hunters dream area, great walk in area.

If you live in Helena or Great Falls or in between, or you can dedicate time to scout and several days to hunt it would be killer.
