What would be my best choice for hunting whitetail as far as which state to pick? Live in southern utah no whitetails. I would really like to go after a whitetail in 2009. would prefer to not venture to far from home. Do to the price of fuel. Not looking for a big deer just a chance at a buck. Thanks for the help.

Both Northern Idaho and Western Montana have good numbers of whitetail on public land.

E Washinton has even more whitetails, consider by few as the best in the west for whitetails

How hard is it to gain access in E. Washington. I'm from the midwest but have hunted whitetails in the west and really love it. Washington is a sleeper state for great whitetails.

South Dakota, you get to hunt WT and Pheasants at the same time.
