Bow season came and went for me and I saw no shooter bucks, same thing for muzzle loader season.
Our rifle season opened Sat. Nov. 22 in NC in the NW region. It was 15 degrees and windy. I hiked back into my favorite hunting spot and shot this dude right after first light.
I got to my spot, put on my bibs and parka and was opening up some hot hands when I heard him coming down the hill towards me. I had to be patient to get a clear shot through all the brush, finally I found a hole and made a good shot with my trusty model 700 Remington 270 win. I didn't even have time to get cold!!!
This is the first time I have ever shot an opening day rifle buck!
He is not a giant but a very respectable buck for my hunting area.
Thanks for looking
