Are you talking southeastern colorado? What unit?? I have been hunting the southeastern parts and the spot and stalk is probably going to be your best bet if we are talking about the same area...1manshow

it will probably northeastern co. i have access to some private land in units 93 and 98 - mostly ag land. minimal crp. one area does have a creek/river bottom running through.

is glassing and stalking better than field hunting from a make-shift blind or just posting up in the bottoms and waiting?

any help is much appreciated...

Stay low in the milo

As a midwestern whitetail hunter that has hunted their one of the first things that struck me is where you see good bucks. Don't have a midwestern mindset that you have to have great cover for great bucks. You can and will see them in very open areas using very minimal cover. River bottoms are going to be where a lot of the deer are obviously. I would not use a pop-up or stand unless I had already patterned a deer. The great part of hunting open country is glassing and spot/stalk. I grew up stand hunting and it sucks now that I've done a decent amount of open country spot/stalk. Have fun!
