Just returned last week from the final hunt of the year. An archery hunt to Oklahoma, where I was at long last able to take my first whitetail buck.
On the fourth evening of a five day hunt I saw this buck (well, mostly his eyegaurds) coming across the field in my direction. He was about 300 yards out when I saw him and I doubted he would make it within range as he was directly down wind. Well for whatever reason he decided to throw caution to the wind and come take a look at the does feeding under my stand. It cost him...at twenty five yards and still directly downwind he turned broadside and caught my arrow right in the chest. He didn't make it far.
